Asaph Speaks (Amidst)

Psalm 73

A heart drawn with a red crayon on a rock

Rock of My Heart — You Are My Rest

21 When my heart was sad and bitter,
I was angry — I felt wretched, stabbed in the gut.

22 In my desperate state, I was senseless and stupid.
I acted like the most ignorant of beasts toward you.

23 Even so, I am still with you – you did not leave.
In fact, you’ve continually held my hand.
My right hand. (Agency and Voice).

24 You, God, guide me with your (gracious) advice,
and later you will receive me in honor.

25 Whom have I in heaven but you?
I desire nothing on earth besides you.

26 My body, mind and heart do become weak,
but God is my strength (the rock of my heart).

You eternal God (never fading) are mine. My portion forever.

27 Those who are far from God, perish.
They who pursue false gods are brought to an end.

28 But I am close to God, and that is good.
I have made God the protection upon whom I lean.
In whom I rest.

The words of Asaph — speaking amidst (my) doubt, shame and fear.
